I like pretty much everything about this restaurant. We were served quickly and attentively despite the place being impact I think this is a very popular place that is often packed even though they have a large outside a large inside private room. It looks like a couple hundred people could be dying here at one time They have a large wood grill, which is really impressive invisible from the main dining room and they have a lot of comfort style foods and higher Enfield in their menu. I liked everything we ate and I believe they have corking fee. If you wanna bring your own bottle, which is a great option. Parking can be a little bit of a challenge so just watch out or be prepared to take a little few more minutes to get to the restaurant.

My husband and I came here to celebrate my pregnancy and we tried dining at the Yurts this time. We've always loved The Charter Oak but the yurt experience was truly unforgettable and special! There was not one dish that we did not love. It was cold and raining that night but our host made sure that we were toasty and comfortable. He was such a lovely guy. The menu was fixed but because I was pregnant, some of the items were tailored to my dietary specifications. We enjoyed our dinner so much and we are looking forward to booking another reservation at the Yurt Village!

I came here for a private dinner for about 20 people and the highlight was definitely the service! I think the servers were all very kind and attentive. The restaurant itself is also beautiful both inside and out which was great for our group when we were taking photos! The food is where I had mixed feelings. There were definitely courses I enjoyed but some of the meat and vegetables were just too salty. The cocktails were great and they were willing to customize to my taste!

Very good: Food, atmosphere, service. Bad: N/A Was able to get in on an early dinner. Will be back!!

The place is lovely to say the least, the outdoor seating is very laid back. It's great for brunch or a bachelor party honestly. The decor is very masculine, very rustic. The service was wonderful, initially oh ur group was seated outside but we were very cold so they moved us inside. The menu wasn't big so it's not hard to decide what to get, theres something for everyone. I think we ordered almost one of everything. I really REALLY recommend the broccolis under the salad section and make sure to squeeze the lemon on it! It was one of my favorite dish. The smoked sturgeon was good but the topping was a bit much but removing some of it was all that was needed. The bacon was just a thick piece of bacon just like it was stated on the menu, there wasnt anything special, not getting that again. The burger was good. The Tomahawk steak was good but i don't think it's $185 good. Nothing particularly special about it. The whole chicken was delicious. The pork jowl skewers were fantastic . The squash was delicious also. The grilled avocado was just that... oh definitely should get the bread also the beef tartare. I ordered white rice to pair with the proteins and i think that was a good choice since some of the food was salty. We will definitely have to comeback here. And you should try it also!

4.5 stars! Great experience. Ambience: This restaurant is very elegant, the outdoor area is green and beautiful, the indoors is dim light, cool decorations and nice. The bar looked so cool and the grill was also right there, so cool & yum. Service: Service was excellent. The front host was ok, rather dry, no smile... but our waitress was great - Jessica V. She was very nice & friendly. She was helpful with the menu & recommendations, very attentive, checked on us after each dish was delivered while giving us space to enjoy our meal. Food: Overall the food was really good. We enjoyed each dish. The steak seemed too pricey for the price. - Bread: the sour dough bread was so good and the butter spread made it even better. Was worth paying for it. - Little Gem salad: a nice twist on a Cesar. We loved it! The crunches added good texture to it. The dressing was tasty and perfect amount. We also enjoyed the dill on top. - Ribeye steak: It came out medium-rare as requested. It's rare that places get it right. The inside was nice & pink and the outside had a good chard/seared with a really good rub on it. Really enjoyed it. The sauce that also came with it was fantastic. But it was rather small for $140 - not sure it was worth it even though it came with one side (sides were $12-$15). - Oyster Mushrooms: pretty cool and super flavorful plate of mushrooms. - Soft serve: Yum! The pecan sauce & salt was a nice delicious surprise.

After dining at Press on Friday night, we went a bit more casual at The Charter Oak on Saturday. Charter Oak is a beautiful restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. The open-hearth grill and bar are the centerpieces of the indoor dining area. Christopher Kostow, the award-winning chef at The Restaurant at Meadowood, is the creative force behind Charter Oak. The restaurant stresses its family style dining experience and the simplicity of its food. Much of which comes a garden a half mile away. My wife and I were planning to dine at the restaurant and at the last minute we added another couple. Charter Oak quickly accommodated us. After having visited wineries earlier in the day, we appreciated Charter Oak allowing us to bring in our first bottle with no corkage fee. The Charter Oak Bread and Local Figs were outstanding from the starters section of the menu. This Month's Wings were encrusted in a spice rub, not what we were expecting. We ordered three entrees, and the Grilled Chicken wowed all four of us. Incredibly juicy and flavorful. Kudos for The Cheeseburger with delish hand-cut fries. As someone who loves pork, I struggled to eat the Pork Shoulder Chop. Not sure what was the red sauce coating it, but it was overwhelming and ruined the natural flavor. I looked at the Yelp reviews which mentioned pork chops and none of them featured what I was served. Someone in management needs to put a pause on this cut and preparation. I was amazed that the 14-ounce Flannery Dry Aged Ribeye costs $140. We passed. The Grilled Corn was yummy with yeast salt and cultured butter, but I believe we overlooked the best item, the Jimmy Nardello Peppers. For dessert, the Jersey Cow's Mile Soft Serve was a crowd pleaser. The Preserved Peaches featured too much meringue and not enough peaches. Renee our server did a nice job introducing us to the menu and ensuring we had a wonderful time.

I love places like The Charter Oak Restaurant. High quality food, top notch ingredients yet a very low key and casual ambiance. Backed by the 3 Michelin Star chops of Christopher Kostow from the Restaurant at Meadowood, the Charter Oak brings simple and elegant cooking to the fantastic farm produce they cultivate from the region. We focused mainly on appetizers and I likely over ordered but there are so many delicious sounding items to choose from. Our choices: Charter Oak Bread with House Cultured Butter - Small $8. It's a generous portion and the bread is fantastic as is the butter. Raw Vegetables from Our Farm $25 - another must order. Chilled, with fantastic variety, you won't find better tasting or sweeter vegetables anywhere. The soy bean based dip is absolutely amazing and worth saving. This Months Wings $25 - based on a changing monthly menu, it's what happens when fine dining chefs make wings...they're juicy, delicious and bursting with flavor Aged Beef Chuck Tartare $23 - I love tartare but the mayo based sauce distracted me from the beef flavor. Also the milk bread paled compare to the Charter Oak bread. Hamachi Gardeniera $25 - a miss for me. I found the sour pickled vegetables distracted from the clean hamachi taste and the slices were cut much more thickly than I'm used to for this lovely fish The Cheeseburger $26 - our sole entree and it is amazing. This isn't a smash burger with crispy edges...it's a true burger, cooked medium with insane flavor, juiciness and a very soft roll bread that just envelopes the cheese and the flavors. I loved it. Black Apple Butter Tart $12 - a tad too sweet for me. I count have skipped. The Charter Oak is an anchor institution in St. Helena. Plentiful outdoor and indoor seating. Perfect for kids. Perfect for elderly. Perfect for families. Perfect for couples. Perfect for everyone. Reservations are accepted on Tock and all credit cards including AmEx are accepted.
